Two Oceans Graduate Institute (TOGI) is a private higher education institution registered with the South African Department of Higher Education and Training. Our primary focus is to train teachers for public and private primary and secondary schools in a variety of contexts.
ROLE SUMMARY
Lecturers are responsible for teaching and learning, research, community engagement and administrative support to the Academic Division (AD) in ensuring the attainment of its academic objectives.
We are searching for an English Home Language Lecturer with language specialization to join our team. As TOGI’s English Home Language Lecturer your focus would be on:
Teaching and Learning
– Research trends in the subject/ field/discipline
– Curriculum review (internal and external) to align with trends in the sector/discipline and with national and international norms and standards
– Plan, prepare and compile course/module outlines, course/module guides and course/module material
– Research and apply appropriate assessment methods
– Research and utilise new technologies and approaches in online teaching
– Student and peer evaluations
– Participate in the full cycle of Teaching Practice
– Identify students at risk
– Monitor student progress
– Maintain and monitor student presence in an online environment
Research
– Conduct appropriate research in field/subject
– Publish research in reputable journals
– Apply trends in research in learning and teaching
– Keep abreast of trends in the profession/field/discipline
– Mentor emerging career academics, where applicable
Community Engagement
– Community engagement initiatives
– Integrate community engagement interventions into curriculum
Administration
Participate in committee work and administrative tasks
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
– An undergraduate qualification with a specialization in English
– A Postgraduate qualification in English
– At least five (5) years of teaching experience
– At least two (2) years of higher education teaching experience
– Experience in online pedagogy
ADDITIONAL
– Literacy and Language Development experience
– At least one peer-reviewed article in a scholarly journal
– Professional knowledge and skill/ Higher Education experience
SKILLS
– Excellent technology skills and experience with learning management systems
– Effective interpersonal and communication skills
– Effective organizational skills
LOCATION
TOGI’s offices are in Cape Town, South Africa. Our lecturers operate remotely from various parts of the country with the expectation of attendance to important work-related events and staff related initiatives.
