Introducing the TOGI Executive Academic Head, Professor Jean Baxen

The Two Oceans Graduate Institute is pleased and excited to announce the appointment of Professor Jean Baxen as the newly appointed Executive Academic Head. Her appointment to the TOGI Team is a welcomed one.   

Professor Jean Baxen’s Experience

Professor Baxen brings to TOGI a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of education, teacher training, and the leadership and management of Higher Education Institutes garnered over almost 30 years, with its starting point being UCT, to Rhodes University, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Zululand, SANTS Private Higher Education Institution, to most recently serving as the Deputy Vice Chancellor at Sol Plaatje University.

Professor Jean Baxen has a particular research interest in teacher education, with specific emphasis on early childhood education, social identity, gender, sexuality and HIV and AIDS. She is the author of numerous research reports, peer- reviewed and accredited papers, and book chapters on aspects of education in South Africa. Professor Baxen is an active member of the education community in South Africa, and serves on a number of editorial boards, advisory committees, review boards and participated in a numerous amount of national and international conferences.  

Professor Jean Baxen’s Role at TOGI

Professor Baxen will in her role as the TOGI Executive Academic head oversee and lead the academic functions, and highly qualified academic staff, of the institution. Aligning her strength for people management, resource management for teaching and learning, strategic planning, quality enhancement assurance, management, operationalisation, as well as support and development of staff and students, with the TOGI values, mission and objective, she will thus reinforce the TOGI vision to provide quality higher education for all.
